Yes, we time and manage races here at Go Time, but did you know our owner and founder, Colin Hackman, is also a meteorologist for WECT? Before he started Go Time, Colin worked there full-time. Now he fills in part-time and helps out during hurricane season. You can even find him reporting live from Carolina Beach as the hurricane comes closer to southeastern North Carolina.

Over the next few days, the Carolinas will begin to experience the effects of Hurricane Dorian. Schools have already cancelled classes for the week, beach towns are ordering mandatory evacuations, and many events are being cancelled or rescheduled (including our own Wilmington Beach Blast Nighttime XC Meet, and the Paddle 4 Troops race in Surf City). Though the path and strength of this hurricane could still change, we want to help make sure our community is prepared, whether you decided to stay or evacuate.

Below is a link to a Hurricane Preparedness Guide from WECT. It includes emergency contact numbers, survival checklists, and what you can do for your pets. We highly suggest going through this guide to make sure you are ready before the hurricane arrives. It is always better to be over-prepared than under-prepared in a situation like this. We hope everyone stays safe! Go Time will be thinking of everyone in the path of this storm.
